Garland Socks
From $13.75
Inspired by the festive magic of Woolen & Nosh’s "Pretty Felted Garland" colorway, the Garland Socks are designed to let the lovely stripes truly sparkle. We created a simple, sweet string of texture, reminiscent of twinkling lights or a freshly draped garland, that will make these socks your newest self-striping obsession. This subtle detail adds interest, both in the knitting and in the wearing, and we love the way this texture enhances the stripes, doing nothing to distract from them. Using a contrast color for the toe, heel, and cuff is an opportunity we never pass up—and we are so charmed by the natural color pairing with "Pretty Felted Garland" we chose for the official sample, we think you will love it too! Construction Notes These toe-up socks begin with a modified version of the Magic Cast On that prevents twisted stitches on the sole stitches. The socks are worked in the round one at a time using Magic Loop, though you can easily substitute your favorite sock method. Waste yarn stitches are inserted for a planned "afterthought" heel, and the leg is worked to the cuff. Note that these socks may be knit two at a time if that’s your heart’s desire. We recommend your sock be 0.25” - 0.75”/0.5 - 2 cm smaller than your foot in circumference, and 0.25” - 1”/0.5 - 2.5 cm shorter than your foot in length. Most knitters won't require modifications. Foot length is easily modified by inserting the waste yarn stitches 1 stripe earlier or later, and the heel can be deepened by adding extra rounds before the decreases or shortened by reducing the number of decrease rounds. First time sock knitters should follow the pattern as written without modification. Check out our sock knitting blog post on our website here https://knitrino.com/blog/socks-from-toe-to-cuffs .
