Flourish Cowl
From $14.75
The Flourish Cowl is a tribute to vintage damask textiles including a technique from the machines that are used to make them. Featuring a large, intricate floral motif, this cowl is designed to be a centerpiece in your hand-knit wardrobe in the perfectly-paired Overtone and Undertone from Brooklyn Tweed Tones. Featuring the magic of Ladderback Jacquard (LBJ), you’ll create a "secret" internal ladder that keeps your floats tidy and your fabric perfectly smooth. New to this technique? Good news: every kit purchase includes an invitation to join us for our Ladderback Jacquard Workshop on Sunday April 12 at 1 pm EDT (GMT -4) where we’ll show you everything you need to make your cowl a success! Each kit features 2 shades of Brooklyn Tweeds's Tones in either Persimmon (orange) or Wallflower (lavender) and a bonus lanolin-rich hand balm from our friends at Tuft Woolens. Tones is a worsted weight, American Columbia woolen spun yarn that has been dyed in coordinated “tone pairs.” This heirloom-style yarn is one of our favorites; it's no longer being produced, so once it's gone, it's gone for good. Construction Notes: The cowl is knit from the bottom up starting with ribbing on smaller needles in the darker color A. After a taste of stranded colorwork, on larger needles, Ladderback Jacquard (LBJ) is used to create the large motif. Then you'll return to another small colorwork section and ribbing on smaller needles.
