Brioche for Brunch Socks
From $13.25
Is there anything better than a stretchy sock that knits up incredibly quickly? We don't think so! Introducing the Brioche for Brunch Socks by the talented Saysha Greene, in DK weight and featuring a Waffle Stitch created with half-brioche rib that is shockingly straightforward. (Really! One of our testers who had never knit a sock or done brioche before said “ Also this feels too easy!!! Am I doing it right?” 😀). This pattern is suitable for aspiring and seasoned sock knitters alike, as well as those new to brioche. If you can knit and purl, you can make these socks. In 4 adult sizes and a bonus Big Baby size, you'll want to knit these socks for everyone you know! If you’re new to brioche stitches, we have you covered. Like every Knitrino project, we provide videos for every technique. Size and Fit: These socks are incredibly stretchy and a little bit slouchy, and most knitters won't require modifications. We recommend your sock be about 1-3"/2.5-7.5 cm smaller than your foot in circumference, and 0.5” - 1.25” (1.25 - 3 cm) shorter than your foot in length. To choose your size, first select based on your foot's circumference at the widest point, then select based on length. For many people, more than 1 size may fit their foot. First time sock knitters should follow the pattern as written without modification. If you fall far outside the ovals on the size charts and decide to modify, be sure to check the pattern guide https://support.knitrino.com/article/119-brioche-for-brunch-socks for tips. Those new to chart reading may want to check out https://knitrino.com/blog/how-to-read-knitting-charts for more. Construction: These toe-up socks begin with a modified version of the Magic Cast On that prevents twisted stitches on the sole stitches. The socks are worked in the round one at a time using Magic Loop, though you can easily substitute your favorite sock method. The heel turn is worked back and forth on the base heel stitches in short rows. After this, the wrapped stitches are resolved, and the gusset stitches are decreased as a part of the heel flap. Those wishing to work two at a time should see the TAAT Considerations in the Pattern Guide linked above. On Social Media: We love to see your work in progress and finished objects. It was only after retiring from a technology career that she realized design was something she was capable of and, in fact, had been doing all her life. "I’ve always had some form of creative expression that I could turn to and that includes my time designing and building technology solutions. It is a part of my life that I hope to always have. I love that knitwear design and knitting offers me endless opportunities to learn and grow in this craft." Follow her on Instagram @insayshable.knits.
